Maverik - Green River
(October 2004)

Maverik, the Utah based, privately owned convenience store company, announced plans to demolish its existing Green River Wyoming store and its carwash located at 59 Uinta Drive at the corner of Second South and Uinta Drive and construct a new $1.5 million convenience store with covered gas pumps. The new store will nearly double the size of its existing Green River location and be the first convenience store in Green River to be awarded a full alcohol sales license by the City. Maverik operates approximately 170 stores throughout the west including stores in Montana, Idaho, Wyoming, Nevada, Utah, Colorado and Arizona. The project is scheduled to start construction during the spring of 2005 with completion scheduled within 6 months. The existing store will remain open during construction thanks to the sale of nearly a half acre of land by the City of Green River to west of its existing site on Second South. The carwash will not be replaced, but fortunately for Green River residents, a Pinedale developer has recently started construction of an automatic and self-serve carwash across the street from the existing Maverik store. The City of Green River worked proactively with Maverik on the land sale, liquor license, and zoning issues.
